MASTERS OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (MCA)

The 2 Years of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program is being offered by Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad and designed to meet the growing demand of qualified professionals in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology, especially in the design and development of software system. By providing concept-oriented subject knowledge through high-quality teaching, supplemented with practical training, the Department aims to bring out the bright minds to a great career. During the course the students will study the Programming, Web Developments, ML, AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT) and much more. The Program also imparts the ability to analyse, design, develop and manage software development.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A candidate shall have passed the qualifying examination of B.C.A/B.Sc. (Computer Science)/ B.Sc. (IT) / B.E. (CSE)/ B.Tech. (CSE) / B.E. (IT)/ B.Tech. (IT) or equivalent Degree or passed any graduation degree (e.g.: B.E. / B.Tech./B.Sc/ B.Com. / B.A./ B. Voc./ etc.,) preferably with Mathematics, Business Mathematics or statistics at 10+2 level or at Graduation level with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying examination. (For students having no Mathematics background compulsory bridge course will be framed by the respective University/ Institution and additional bridge courses related to computer subjects as per the norms of the concerned University)

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

One Mid Semester (Internal) Examination of 70 marks, if students will fail then they have to appear for the Remedial Examination with same marks, One University Examination of 70 marks are conducted during each semester. Passing criteria is 50% in each subject.

Note – All most each subject has its own practical exams (Mid semesters as well as external).

PROJECT WORK

In second and third semester two special subjects introduced as a Software Project-1 and Software Project-2. In that each student will be required to develop system (in-house) practically and submit to the respective mentor. In fourth semester Software Project-3 will be full time software project where students have to take internship and training in actual IT company and after completion of project company issues the certificate, same will be provided by the college. In fourth semester student have two mentors, one from college and one from company as a internal and external mentor respectively. The evaluation of the Project Work would be based on the system, documentation, presentation and viva-voce performance will be evaluated by internal and external examiners.
