Course Description

Technical Education can meet the expanding demands of expanding society and to meet its multiplying demands. Bachelor of Computer Applications is a 3 years undergraduate degree course in the field of Computer Applications. BCA Course is an undergraduate program where students are exposed to various areas of computer applications including the latest developments in the industry.

It aims at providing strong knowledge to the students in different areas like computer fundamentals and programming basics, database and application packages, networking and internet, logical and numerical methods. It also prepares students with the requisites background to proceed for higher studies in the form of MCA, MSc in computer or IT, etc.

Course Duration

The BCA course structure is spread across six semesters in three years. Each semester comprises of theory and practical subjects.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed standard 12th (H.S.C) Examination in   Science (Any group)/ Commerce/ Vocational/ General stream through  Gujarat  Higher Secondary Education Board (G.H.S.E.B.) or any other equivalent board (C.B.S.E. /I.C.S.E e.t.c which must be approved and possess equivalence certificate from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University ) with English as one of the subjects. In case of Candidates passed out from 12th (H.S.C) General Stream, statistics/Economics/Business Mathematics must be one of the subjects. In case of students passed out with 12th (H.S.C)  vocational stream Computer and English must be one of the subject. 

Three years diploma course in computer science of the Board of Technical Education conducted by the Government of Gujarat or its equivalent are also eligible for direct admission in the 2nd year.

Program Structure

• Only practical/tutorial subjects will have 140 marks of the University exam and 60 marks of the internal exam at the institute level.

• All theory subjects have 70 marks on VNSGU’s final theory exam,  30 marks on the semester college exam.

• The assessment pattern for BCA Programme comprises a module of a final semester-end examination carried out by the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and internal evaluation by the college as well.

• The syllabus is designed by Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat as per CBCS (Choice Based Credit System). The course is regularly updated by University to keep the students upgraded with market trends. The BCA Programme is carried out based on semester patterns with six semesters in three academic years.

• Internal evaluation for the theory exam is of 30 marks and for the practical exam is of 60 marks.
